About the position

The University of California Santa Cruz is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual for the position of Senior Steward at the Younger Lagoon Reserve. This role is pivotal in advancing the Reserve's mission of research, education, outreach, and restoration. The Senior Steward will be responsible for overseeing various projects that enhance the ecological integrity of the Reserve while also engaging with the community to promote environmental stewardship. This position requires a blend of scientific knowledge, project management skills, and a commitment to public education and outreach. The Senior Steward will work closely with faculty, students, and community partners to develop and implement research initiatives that address critical environmental issues. This includes coordinating field studies, managing data collection, and analyzing results to inform conservation strategies. Additionally, the role involves leading educational programs that foster a deeper understanding of the Reserve's ecosystems among diverse audiences, including local schools and community groups. In this capacity, the Senior Steward will also play a key role in restoration efforts, collaborating with various stakeholders to restore habitats and improve biodiversity within the Reserve. This includes planning and executing restoration projects, monitoring their effectiveness, and reporting on outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for environmental conservation and education.

Responsibilities
