About the position

The Youth Care Residential Supervisor at Harmony Hill School is responsible for the safe management of youth aged 8 to 13 years within a residential setting. This role involves overseeing dormitory operations, providing staff supervision and training, and ensuring the implementation of therapeutic treatment for the youth. The supervisor will work closely with various disciplines to maintain a structured and supportive environment, while also being flexible to cover shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead administrative representative for assigned dormitory operations.
  • Ensures that dorm operations, youth supervision, and staff supervision are in accordance with the policy and procedures of Harmony Hill School and the requirements of all licensing agencies.
  • Provide management, training, and supervision of staff to ensure proper care of our youth; and to provide guidance to staff in the areas of youth care supervision and management of emergencies.
  • Consults and collaborates with varied disciplines including social work clinicians, medical, nursing, psychological, and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of their assigned dormitory and group of staff.
  • Additional duties involve skills required for basic budgeting, scheduling, and group home management.
  • Responsible for rotating weekend supervisory coverage and a minimum of one night shift per week.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, or significant (3-5 years) of like experience in a similar setting will substitute for the education requirement.
  • Residential treatment/group home care experience.
  • Experience working with youth in the care of the RI department of children and families (DCYF).
  • An understanding and aptitude for the operation of a 24 hour, 7-day a week program.
  • Previous experience with staff supervision.
  • Experience working with children and youth 8-18 years of age with emotional/psychiatric/behavioral needs.
  • Previous experience with staff training/observation and delivery of feedback to improve performance.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • Successfully pass the HHS training program including safety care management.
