About The Position
The Youth Care Specialist position at Cornerstones of Care is a full-time role based in Kansas City, KS, specifically within the Kansas Foster Care department. The starting salary for this position ranges from $17.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending on the candidate's education and experience. The working hours are from 9 am to 6 pm, and the role primarily involves coordination, transportation, and supervision of youth in foster care during their transition between placements. The Youth Care Specialist will work closely with case management specialists to provide support in various settings, including the office, community, and campus environments. In this role, the Youth Care Specialist is responsible for developing trusting and supportive relationships with families through both short and long-term interventions. This includes utilizing various social work and educational methods, such as individual and group family support, as well as supervised visitation. The position also entails assisting with the After-Hours Emergency Phone, where the specialist will triage incoming calls, problem-solve, and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed before the end of their shift. Additionally, the Youth Care Specialist will prepare time-sensitive reports, including AWOL, critical, and significant incident reports, in accordance with Cornerstones of Care policy. A key aspect of this role is to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness of the diverse backgrounds of the children and families served. Candidates for this position must possess a high school diploma or GED and have at least two years of experience working with youth. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and experience in the Child Welfare arena, particularly with Kansas case management. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background check, physical, and drug screening. A valid driver's license and proof of current vehicle insurance are also required.
