About the position

The Youth Development Coordinator for Project Gateway is responsible for guiding high school students in achieving their academic, financial, and professional goals, with a strong emphasis on college access. This role involves planning and facilitating workshops, engaging with families, and collaborating with colleagues to support students' pathways to higher education and career readiness. The coordinator will also develop outreach and retention strategies to meet program outcomes and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and guide high school students with their short and long-term goals (academically, financially, or professionally) with a focus on college.
  • Plan and facilitate college workshops (FASFA, CUNY, SUNY and Out of State applications, personal essays and scholarships).
  • Connect and engage with colleagues across ECS to support college access within all ECS programs.
  • Offer workshops for parents and family members to familiarize them with topics relating to future planning with and for their child.
  • Work in partnership with Operations and Data Specialists to ensure tracking and reporting of benchmarks and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement an outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and retention plan to meet the outcomes and deliverables as outlined by our funders.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the program director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Bachelor's in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working within the fields of youth and/or workforce development.
  • College access experience preferred.
  • Skilled at workshop planning, facilitation and engagement of youth.
  • Must be culturally competent and provide services in a manner sensitive to participants' cultural heritage and traditions, life experience, sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Excellent written, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities, and youth development.
  • Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.
  • Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and/or Haitian Creole.
