About the position

The Youth Development Counselor at Loysville Youth Development Center plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation and social development of adjudicated delinquent youth. This position involves providing guidance, instruction, and treatment in a secure environment, aiming to help youth develop essential life skills and positive behaviors. Counselors will engage with youth through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and the implementation of treatment plans, making a significant impact on their lives.

Responsibilities

• Engage with court-adjudicated youth requiring guidance and specialized services.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individual treatment program plans.
• Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
• Assess and counsel youth regarding their behaviors and personal issues.
• Address crisis situations and maintain order through intervention techniques.
• Utilize physical restraint techniques when necessary to ensure safety.
• Role model values and ideals to encourage positive behavior changes.

Requirements

• Five years of experience as a Youth Development Aide; or
• Four years of experience as a Youth Development Aide Supervisor; or
• One year of experience in the care, custody, supervision, or guidance of delinquent youth and a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile delinquency, or criminal justice; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
