About the position
The Youth Development Counselor at Loysville Youth Development Center plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation and social development of adjudicated delinquent youth. This position requires a strong commitment to helping youth develop important life skills and make positive changes in their lives. Counselors will engage with youth in a secure setting, providing guidance, instruction, and treatment to foster social and emotional growth.
Responsibilities
- Engage with court-adjudicated youth requiring guidance and specialized services.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individual treatment program plans.
- Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
- Assess and counsel youth regarding their thought processes and personal problems.
- Address crisis situations and maintain order through verbal and physical intervention.
- Utilize appropriate physical restraint techniques to ensure safety and security.
Requirements
- Five years of experience as a Youth Development Aide; or
- Four years of experience as a Youth Development Aide Supervisor; or
- One year of experience in the care, custody, supervision, activities, leadership or personal guidance of delinquent youth and a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile delinquency, or criminal justice; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of experience in the care, custody, supervision, activities, leadership or personal guidance of delinquent youth.
