About the position
The Youth Development Counselor (YDC) at Vista Del Mar is responsible for conducting youth development activities for children in residential group homes. This role involves providing supervision, care, and protection for youth aged 12-18, helping them develop essential life skills and tools for living. The YDC will work as part of a treatment team, implementing various activities and interventions within a trauma-informed framework.
Responsibilities
- Provide constant supervision, protection, and care of youth in a trauma-informed manner.
- Work as part of the treatment team to help youth develop social, vocational, educational, and hygiene skills.
- Develop and implement various activities for the youth.
- Demonstrate understanding and practice of relationship-based treatment and culturally sensitive approaches.
- Responsible for agency vehicles and maintaining vehicle log sheets.
- Participate in and document cottage group meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BA/BS required).
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with adolescents in a residential treatment facility.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Valid California Driver's License with a good driving record.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Card (fully vaccinated with booster) required.
