About the position
The Youth Development Program Coordinator at The Salvation Army is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the daily operations and activities within the Youth Development Department. This role includes managing summer, spring, and fall camp programs, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, and providing leadership and training to staff. The coordinator will also monitor child care coordinators and tutors, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and youth involved in the programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and development of Youth Development programs.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and activities in the Youth Development Department.
- Monitor child care coordinators and tutors to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Plan schedules for Youth Development staff and ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Provide leadership and training during assigned shifts.
- Ensure safety of children and youth and prevent accidents.
- Enforce Safe from Harm regulations and policies.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Education or related field.
- Two years of experience working with child development programs or youth programs.
- Knowledge of Child and Youth Behavior and Development principles.
- Understanding of Safe from Harm Policies and Trauma Informed Care.
- Ability to teach Christian values and early childhood education curriculum.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in a church or preschool setting.
- Knowledge of homelessness and its impact on children.
- Ability to interact positively with diverse backgrounds.
