Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking married couples to serve as flex houseparents, a unique and rewarding role that involves living on campus and providing guidance and support to a group of approximately 8-12 students. The role requires flexibility, as newly hired couples will initially cover different student homes before being assigned to a specific home. Responsibilities include driving students, administering medication, managing budgets, and reporting on student progress. The position offers a structured schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, allowing for personal time while students are at school. Responsibilities

  • Guide and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students in an on-campus home.
  • Provide a consistent family-like structure for students.
  • Drive students to various activities and appointments.
  • Administer medication to students as needed.
  • Manage household budgeting and reporting responsibilities.
  • Lead students in daily devotions and attend Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services.

Requirements

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from underserved settings.
  • Both spouses must be legally married for at least two years.
  • Both spouses should be age 27 or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity as role models for students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a residential or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with youth development principles.
