The Youth Mental Health Corps Fellow - 4-H Youth Club Coordinator position is a full-time role designed for individuals passionate about youth mental health and community service. As a Fellow, you will be part of the 4-H HealthCorps program, which focuses on facilitating classes that promote mental and emotional health among youth. This role emphasizes the importance of building resilience, managing stress, and developing healthy relationships, which are crucial for fostering lifelong habits that contribute to a healthy life. Fellows will be placed within Michigan State University (MSU) Extension county offices, where they will provide programming tailored to local community needs. The position is not only about delivering educational content but also involves creating special interest clubs, engaging youth who are new to 4-H, and supporting volunteers in their efforts. You will be responsible for planning and organizing clubs that focus on mental and emotional health, hosting family well-being events, collecting data, and submitting reports on your activities. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Fellowship offers intensive professional development and training on topics relevant to working with youth in schools and community programs. This includes opportunities to earn certifications that are essential for career advancement in the mental health field. As a mental and behavioral health liaison, you will navigate resources for 4-H HealthCorps service recipients, addressing the growing needs of youth while also creating career pathways for yourself and others. The program aims to tackle the national shortage of mental health professionals by equipping Fellows with the necessary skills and experiences. Fellows will also engage in various training and certification processes, participate in career pathway supports, and provide feedback on the services offered by the Youth Mental Health Corps. You will have the chance to travel to the national YMHC convening in spring 2025 and are encouraged to participate in post-service career surveys and other engagement activities following your AmeriCorps term of service.
