About the position

The Director of Youth Ministry for Esto Lux Youth is responsible for leading youth ministry efforts across four parishes in south St. Louis County. This role involves collaborating with a team of youth ministers to empower young people in their faith, foster their personal and spiritual growth, and engage them in parish life. The position requires a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and the ability to create and execute various formational events and programs for youth.

Responsibilities

• Form relationships with area teens to lead them to Jesus and foster community.
• Create, promote, and execute formational events such as life nights, bible studies, and small group meetings.
• Give talks that support young people's catechetical, spiritual, and human formation.
• Make connections with the local community to recruit potential core team members.
• Organize and facilitate monthly core team meetings and provide ongoing training for new members.
• Create opportunities for spiritual development for the core team and ensure proper orientation for new members.
• Encourage active participation of teens in parish life and create service opportunities within the community.
• Plan and execute a regular program of middle school ministry on each parish campus.
• Maintain knowledge of trends and resources in youth ministry.
• Attend weekly team meetings with the Esto Lux Chaplain to discuss events and opportunities.
• Facilitate communication between parishes, priests, teens, and the youth ministry team.
• Organize fundraising opportunities to support programming.
• Establish and maintain a parent mission team for program support.
• Connect virtually with teens through social media and digital platforms.
• Communicate regularly with parish communication coordinators to disseminate event details.
• Provide a welcoming atmosphere for new attendees and collect contact information.
• Coordinate visits to area high schools to invite new teens into programming.
• Curate content and curriculum for ongoing youth formation, including series and retreats.
• Register, promote, and attend off-campus formational opportunities such as retreats and mission trips.
• Offer guidance and support for youth and parents as needed.
• Collaborate with the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry to stay informed about resources and guidelines.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of the Catholic faith and a desire for ongoing formation.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Catholic studies, philosophy, theology, evangelization, or related fields.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in youth ministry as a core team member or youth minister.
• Ability to work full-time, including frequent evenings for Esto Lux.
• Experience with fundraising, event promotion, graphic design, or retreat facilitation preferred.
