About the position

The Youth Music Instructor position at School of Rock involves teaching music to young children aged 4-7 through the Little Wing and Rookies programs. The role focuses on creating a supportive and inspiring environment for students while maximizing the quality of music instruction. Instructors will engage with students and parents, ensuring that children learn the fundamentals of music in a fun and interactive way.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
• Ensure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
• Communicate regularly with parents on the progress of students after lessons
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
• Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
• Assist in recruiting and enrolling students

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
• Passion for and/or experience working with children under the age of seven (7)
• Classroom/early childhood education experience preferred
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design; concepts in music like rhythm, notation, pop and rock genres
• Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers, including children and parents
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
• Strong organizational skills
• Very strong customer relations skills on the phone and in person
• Resourceful and good problem-solver
• Works well under pressure
• Proficient on at least one instrument: guitar, keyboard/piano, drums, or voice
• Good judgment
