About the position

The Youth Pastor at Free Christian Church is responsible for guiding and directing youth from 6th to 12th grade in their faith journey, fostering a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. This full-time position involves planning and evaluating youth ministry programs, leading Sunday services, coordinating events, and collaborating with parents and volunteers to create a supportive and engaging environment for youth.

Responsibilities

• Partner with parents to teach and guide youth in their faith.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate the Youth Ministry curriculum and activities.
• Deliver pastoral leadership during Sunday services and select evenings.
• Oversee the Confirmation process for youth in 11th and 12th grade.
• Plan and lead off-site youth events and retreats.
• Recruit, coach, and manage volunteers and assistant staff.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration within the ministry.
• Coordinate service opportunities for youth.
• Engage with parents and families as part of the ministry.
• Communicate the needs and activities of the youth ministry to the congregation.
• Welcome new families into the Youth Ministry.
• Collaborate with the Pastor of Discipleship on strategic planning and budgeting.

Requirements

• Personal and mature faith in Jesus Christ.
• Ability to work with youth and adult volunteers.
• Leadership, teaching, and administrative skills.
• Relevant youth ministry work experience (2-3 years preferred).
• High energy level and strong relational skills.
• Understanding of student development and contemporary youth ministry strategies.
• Basic budgeting, planning, and management skills.
• Ability to collaborate positively with other staff.

Nice-to-haves

• MDiv or MA degree preferred.
• Experience in volunteer management.
