About the position

The Youth Program Generalist position at BGCB in Mattapan is a part-time role focused on delivering core programs, activities, and events for youth. The individual in this role will be responsible for supervising and maintaining discipline among members participating in various programs and services within the clubhouse. This includes ensuring a safe and clean environment, securing and maintaining materials and equipment, and participating in collaborative programs with other staff and community organizations. The position also emphasizes the importance of healthy behavior modeling, creating an inclusive environment, and continuous learning through professional development opportunities. Staff members are expected to engage in evaluation efforts to assess the impact of programs, including participation in annual member surveys. Frequent travel between sites and to activities is required, and the role may involve other related duties as specified by the Director of Operations or Program Area Director.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver BGCB core programs, activities, and events as directed.
  • Supervise and maintain discipline among members participating in programs and services.
  • Participate in collaborative programs and events with staff from other departments and community organizations.
  • Secure and maintain materials, equipment, and resources for the program area.
  • Maintain a safe and clean program area.
  • Engage in individual and group supervision sessions and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in evaluation efforts, including the annual member survey.
  • Perform other related duties as specified by the Director of Operations or Program Area Director.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or working towards a degree required.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing recreation programs for youth.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Must be or become CPR/FA certified.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • MS Office and web competency preferred.
  • Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours as seasons and service needs change.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
