About the position

The Youth Programs Coordinator at Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center is responsible for implementing and coordinating visual art programs for youth aged 0-17. This role focuses on delivering high-quality visual art education through various creative programs, including after-school activities, art camps, field trips, and family-friendly events. The coordinator will also teach art programs, supervise seasonal assistants, manage participant data, and ensure compliance with grant requirements, all while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all aspects of youth programs year-round, including planning, implementation, supervision, and post-program reviews/reports.
  • Plans, schedules, and oversees age-appropriate curriculum/project development for all youth classes and programs.
  • Teaches art classes and leads outreach activities, developing curriculum as needed.
  • Provides care, supervision, and accountability for children and youth participating in program activities.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Engages and interacts with youth and their families.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, teaching artists, and community members.
  • Maintains data collection requirements for grant reporting and project tracking.
  • Schedules youth teachers and reserves art studios, maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicates with staff, students, parents, and community members via various channels.
  • Coordinates the setup and breakdown of classrooms and activities.
  • Orders and organizes supplies for youth programs and events, ensuring adequate stock.
  • Keeps track of class enrollment and participation for marketing and grant reporting.
  • Creates and maintains paperwork for youth programs, including waivers and evaluations.
  • Promotes Hui programs to students and community members.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth (at least three years preferred).
  • Education in early childhood education, general education, or visual art is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, multitasking, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach high-quality group visual art activities for children.
  • Ability to move supplies/tools/equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in program management or coordination.
  • Familiarity with grant reporting and compliance.
