About the position
The Youth Programs Coordinator at SafeSpace Center Inc. is a part-time role focused on supporting youth-led initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness among teens and young adults. This position involves coordinating activities for the Youth Action Board, assisting in recruitment, and facilitating meetings, all while fostering a compassionate and inclusive environment for participants.
Responsibilities
- Support the operation of the SafeSpace Youth Action Board and school groups.
- Assist in recruitment efforts of new Youth Action Board members, including designing flyers and scheduling interviews.
- Coordinate SafeSpace weekly Youth Action Board meetings, including logistics like refreshments and setup.
- Support the Youth Action Board with their campus and community initiatives.
- Manage email correspondence for the Youth Action Board, including weekly updates and meeting facilitation.
- Assist the Programs Manager in executing the Expedition Program at Summit Schools.
- Conduct weekly check-ins with the Executive Director and Programs Manager.
- Represent the program at public-facing events and outreach efforts.
- Attend weekly management team meetings and provide additional support as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated compassion and empathy in working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening and effective communication with diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teens, educators, and community partners.
- Must have a flexible schedule for occasional weekend activities and late afternoon/evening hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Canva, Zoom, and Adobe.
Benefits
- $25.00 per hour
