About the position

The Youth Sports Director position is a part-time, seasonal role focused on assisting in the coordination and operations of youth sports programs, specifically soccer and basketball. The role involves working closely with the Recreation Coordinator to ensure smooth operations during the sports season, which runs from late August to late February. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down sports facilities, managing game day operations, and providing support to referees and participants.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination and operations of seasonal youth sports (Soccer/Basketball)
• Work Saturdays as needed for the duration of the sports season (Late August - Late February)
• Assist in the set up and breakdown of sports facilities, including light custodial work
• Assist the Recreation Coordinator at Meet and Greets and Picture Day
• Relay necessary information to the Recreation Coordinator as needed
• Assist in field set up on game days for soccer
• Ensure people know field location and time of games for soccer
• Ensure games are being played at their appropriate times/locations for soccer
• Delivery of game checks to referees on game day for soccer
• Finding replacement referees for soccer
• Stepping into referee role as needed for soccer
• Keep facility restrooms clean and stocked as needed for soccer
• Assist in the breakdown of fields after games for soccer
• Troubleshoot issues as needed for soccer
• Serve as point of contact for game day questions for soccer
• Assist in set up on the mornings of games for basketball
• Operating the game clock for all basketball games
• Keep score/keep time/substitutions/rules/questions for basketball
• Delivery of game checks to referees on game day for basketball
• Keep facility restrooms clean and stocked as needed for basketball
• Clean facilities after game day for basketball
• Sweep/vacuum/mop as needed for basketball
• Troubleshoot issues as needed for basketball
• Serve as point of contact for game day questions for basketball
• Relay important information to the Recreation Coordinator as needed

Requirements

• Ability to work part-time during the sports season
• Experience in youth sports or recreational activities
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
• Basic custodial skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in coaching or officiating youth sports
• First aid and CPR certification
