About the position
The position involves monitoring team sports at the YMCA or off-site locations, teaching the knowledge of the game to youth and adults, and interpreting the rules, policies, and traditions of the game to participants. Responsibilities
- Monitor team sports at the YMCA or off-site locations.
- Teach the knowledge of the game to youth and adults.
- Interpret the rules, policies, and traditions of the game to participants.
- Observe participant and fan behavior and respond to health and safety concerns.
- Organize and manage sports setup and cleanup.
- Adjust and operate sports equipment including baskets, goals, scoreboards, and sound systems.
- Participate in training and staff meetings to develop leadership and management skills.
- Stay current with applicable sport rules and regulations.
- Show enthusiasm about officiating and teaching the game.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with school age children preferred.
- High School or College level knowledge of sports experience preferred.
- Entry level, no certifications required.
