About The Position

This position is for a Youth Summer Hire responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the plant site. The role involves a variety of physical tasks, including cleaning up sawdust, chips, shavings, bark, and broken boards using tools such as shovels, brooms, air hoses, rakes, wheelbarrows, and leaf blowers. It also includes cleaning trash and debris around the property, painting handrails, and using a weed wacker. Additionally, there may be data entry and other clerical tasks as needed. The position requires the ability to work independently and identify tasks efficiently, with some supervision. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• Must have excellent hand eye coordination.
• Use vision/hearing continuously and must have peripheral vision to see forklifts and co-workers.
• Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
• Worker generally works with another clean up member with little supervision.
• Clean up members must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and make necessary decisions.
• Do only maintenance you are trained to do and keep all body parts out of machinery.
• Always use our 14-step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason; be aware of stored energy.
• Always use proper body mechanics (ex: don’t overreach, get help as needed to push loads out).
• Use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection).
• Be aware of and always communicate with your co-worker (ex: forklift driver).
• Will be required to read and write during safety training.
• Requires repetitive use of hands, arms, upper body, back, legs.
• Worker will bend, twist, squat, push/pull (back legs) using waist, shoulders, arms, hands, and wrists to manipulate a variety of tools.
• Climb ladders occasionally and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Constant use of hearing and vision.
• Frequent bending, twisting, pushing/pulling and reaching.
• Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling more than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clean up sawdust, chips, shavings, bark, broken boards using shovel, broom, air hose, rake, wheelbarrow, leaf blower etc.
• Cleanup trash and debris around property.
• Use Leaf blower to cleanup dust and wood chips.
• Use a rake, shovel and broom to clean up debris.
• Painting handrails and access and egress edges.
• Use weed wacker to remove brush/debris.
• Data entry and other clerical tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties and functions as assigned by supervisor for production and cleaning purpose.
