About the position

The Youth Therapist position at CASES involves providing mental health services to adolescents and young adults engaged in community youth programs. The role focuses on conducting screenings, assessments, and delivering clinical treatment while collaborating with various stakeholders to develop family-centered treatment plans. The therapist will work closely with the Police Athletic League to enhance access to mental health treatment for youth involved in the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening and assessment using validated tools for mental illness, trauma, substance use, and risk needs.
  • Develop family-centered treatment plans in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide compassionate, developmentally-appropriate clinical treatment in accordance with regulations.
  • Utilize evidence-based risk management protocols to serve clients at elevated risk.
  • Implement cognitive behavioral approaches to support behavioral changes and reduce risks.
  • Deliver treatment to individuals with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Provide culturally competent services tailored to client needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Measures and track client progress using data reports.
  • Lead other youth and young adult clinicians in the PAL's BRY program.
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision and weekly staff meetings.

Requirements

  • LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or LMSW required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a clinic setting or at least 2 years in a licensed mental health or substance use program.
  • Experience with diverse young people receiving mental health treatment, including those involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Expertise in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, evidence-based practice.
  • Must obtain the Integrated Mental Health/Addictions Treatment Training Certificate (IMHATT) within six months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with youth and adolescents in a social service or behavioral health setting.
  • CASAC certification.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
