About the position

BAE Systems is seeking experienced welders to support vehicle fabrication on 2nd and 3rd shifts. The role involves operating various welding equipment and processes to join materials, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate handheld or machine guided welding equipment.
  • Utilize positioners, fixtures, and hand layout for material joining as per process documentation.
  • Perform various welding processes including mig wire, dual shield, flux core, submerged arc, tig, stick electrode welding, carbon arc gouging, plasma arc gouging, and oxy-acetylene cutting.
  • Operate support equipment such as jib or overhead cranes, portable chippers, grinders, and various hand tools.
  • Interact with Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Weld Techs, and Inspection personnel to support the production process.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of welding experience with a High School diploma or GED.
  • 0-1 years of welding experience with a Trade School certificate or College degree.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers or data acquisition devices (e.g., bar-code).
  • Sufficient working experience utilizing the tools, equipment, machinery, and materials as noted in the job description.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of weld symbols and weld process specifications.
