About the position
The Sr Z/OS Systems Programmer (MFA Admin) is responsible for leading and supporting complex database upgrade projects, installation, testing, implementation, maintenance, and enhancements of system software products. This role involves planning, installing, configuring, and managing core database products to support the County's database architecture and business needs. The position requires expertise in various database management systems and technologies, ensuring the health and performance of databases while providing technical consulting to application and operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support complex database upgrade projects.
- Plan, install, configure, test, implement, and manage core database products.
- Verify the health of all databases and provide technical consulting for project planning and development.
- Perform maintenance on production database systems and conduct technical reviews of existing systems.
- Consult with project development teams on database design and create logical and physical database designs.
- Conduct database capacity planning and develop backup and recovery procedures.
- Monitor database performance and space, and perform database reorganizations.
- Manage database replication, compression, and partitioning.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Programmer/DBA.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a lead role.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or engineering field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with IBM MFA V2.3, SMP/E, Z/OSMF, HCD, HMC.
- Knowledge of ACF2, DB2, and Mainframe tools.
