About the position

The Zone Sales Manager (ZSM) at Utz Quality Foods is responsible for achieving or surpassing profitability and market share goals within an assigned zone. This role involves utilizing effective selling strategies and proactive communication with store management and retail decision-makers. The ZSM must possess an analytic mindset and the ability to communicate corporate sales strategies while maintaining a positive work environment and influencing decision-makers strategically.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage TSR's to drive the Zone's profitability strategies and outline retail service standards.
  • Engage with Independent Distributor Agreements and prepare for the purchase/sale of Independent Distributor routes as required.
  • Develop and execute a yearly Zone Sales Plan to ensure growth in profitability, accounting for competitive activities and market changes.
  • Analyze weekly sales data to achieve distribution, service, merchandising, and pricing goals for the Zone.
  • Conduct store visits to maintain relationships with chain-store management and offer display concepts and product promotions.
  • Prepare and conduct workshop meetings for independent distributors to enhance their operational expertise.
  • Communicate company profitability focus to TSR's to enhance their effectiveness in the field.
  • Conduct random and planned store visits throughout the assigned Zone, providing feedback to TSRs based on observations.
  • Perform required resets at the direction of the Sales Director when third-party reset companies cannot cover.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in sales operations, preferably in the snack, grocery, or beverage industry.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout Nashville and Memphis, TN; overnight travel is 25-30%.
  • 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities while remaining flexible.
  • Working knowledge of Independent Distribution models.
  • Excellent selling and negotiation skills.
  • Proactive communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT certification.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
