FXCollaborative is seeking a talented Zoning/Pre-Design Architect to assist in the production of pre-design feasibility studies for complex mixed-use projects in New York City. The role involves researching zoning constraints, preparing feasibility studies, and creating presentation drawings for urban design projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture and urban design, with a commitment to sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Research zoning constraints for complex mixed-use projects in NYC.
• Prepare feasibility studies including concept level floor plans, massing diagrams, and area summaries.
• Prepare presentation drawings including urban design analysis diagrams, illustrative site plans, and massing views for larger Urban Design projects.
• Interact with consultants.

Requirements

• Minimum 5-10 years related experience in architecture or urban design.
• Experience working with the NYC Zoning Resolution and understanding of the NYC rezoning process.
• Ability to work across multiple scales, from large teams on complex neighborhood planning projects to small teams producing feasibility studies.
• Familiarity with various building types and planning standards.
• Work experience at NYC Department of City Planning or similar city agencies preferred.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and a self-starter, able to prioritize and multi-task.
• Graduate of an accredited Masters or Bachelor of Architecture or Urban Design/Planning degree program or related combination.
• LEED accredited preferred.
• Proficient with 2D, 3D, graphic, and other related design software.
