About The Position

The Honolulu Zoo is hiring a Zoo Education Specialist I. This position is responsible for coordinating volunteer staff and providing input to educational programs at the Honolulu Zoo.

Requirements

• Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with major work in education, general science, biology, zoology, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in the development and presentation of educational, interpretive and/or volunteer programs.
• Must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, training, and overseeing assignments of all volunteers in supporting of Zoo activities and programs.
• Conduct job performance evaluations of volunteers.
• Plans and implements special events associated with the Zoo in education, recreation, and conservation activities.
• Conducts Zoo tours and makes presentations.
• Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.
