About the position

The Zumba Instructor at In-Shape Family Fitness is responsible for leading engaging group fitness classes and recreational sports programs, promoting a holistic approach to fitness among members. This part-time role involves motivating participants, ensuring safety during workouts, and fostering a sense of community within the club. The instructor will work with diverse age groups and may conduct both live and virtual classes, while also participating in club events and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate members to explore multiple group fitness classes and recreational sports programs.
  • Promote and participate in club events through social media and member engagement.
  • Connect with members by being welcoming and approachable, teaching authentically, and providing genuine praise.
  • Validate member's access to paid programming.
  • Deliver a motivating instructional experience in every class, ensuring a seamless flow and providing modifications for all members.
  • Provide instruction on correct form and technique to ensure member safety and benefit from exercises.
  • Demonstrate proper form and technique as a role model during workouts.
  • Engage members outside of class to build community and promote belonging.
  • Follow procedures for equipment usage, storage, and maintenance.
  • Teach all assigned classes and find substitutions when needed.
  • Complete assigned trainings and key tasks on time.
  • Ensure a safe and well-maintained environment by implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Coach others and be open to coaching for professional growth.
  • Resolve concerns and ensure member needs are met according to company guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • National certification (AFAA, ACE, NASM, ISSA, etc.) or format-specific training (e.g., Les Mills, Zumba) accepted to teach free programming.
  • Completion of online and in-person internal training requirements to teach paid programming.
  • Lifeguard certification required for aqua programming.
  • 2+ years of team sports experience needed to teach free programming.
  • National certification required to teach paid programming in sports (e.g., USPTA, USTA Net Generation).
  • Strong motivational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Trustline Registered to coach children.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to pass within 60 days of hire.
