Director of Product

Job Description

At Teal, we’re setting out to level the playing field for professionals who want more—more growth, more opportunities, and more alignment with their values—by building a truly consumer-first platform that redefines career growth. Our goal is to help people make confident career decisions with the tools, technology, and resources they need to achieve success on their terms. As our Director of Product, you’ll drive our activation, conversion, and retention strategy, making sure our platform delivers value to professionals navigating their careers across the entire customer lifecycle.

I’m Dave Fano, the Founder and CEO of Teal! Since this role will be a close thought partner with me, rather than a generic job description, I thought I’d tell you exactly what I’m looking for.

I started Teal because there was truly no consumer focused product designed to empower individuals in their careers. Every job board, every new AI tool, every hot SaaS product is built for the benefit of companies, not people. I wanted to revolutionize the way individuals manage their careers with intuitive, AI-powered tools that help people achieve their goals and give them some power back in their careers.

Along with expansion of our product line, we recently announced our Series A round of funding, and now I’m looking for a fully remote Director of Product to be at the helm of our continued growth as we strive to help millions of individuals! This is a unique chance to report directly to me and lead product strategy, define growth initiatives, and drive innovation in a purpose-driven, well funded, company where every decision impacts the lives of our members.

At Teal we evolve as we grow, so while I have a list of expected responsibilities, I also want to point out that being comfortable with a role where priorities or expectations may shift is important. You will test, learn, fail (probably several times), and try it again a bit differently next time. Teal is not a product that people have to use, or return back to each day, our members make a deliberate choice every day to log in, so it is very important for me in this role to have somebody who has done this before at a growing, high volume, product company that relies on a self-serve sign up and wants to deliver an incredible and enjoyable user experience!

Responsibilities

  • Work with leadership to drive product vision and strategy, and build alignment across teams, cross-functional partners, and leadership team
  • Drive product features & improvements through their entire creative cycle: ideation, specification, development, release, analysis, and iteration
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative research to explore and validate feature ideas
  • Partner with product designers & engineers to ensure a empowering and delightful user experience in the product
  • Perform experiment analysis on features and find opportunities for optimization that better key performance indicator(s) which drive user growth and engagement.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in product management with a strong focus on product led growth, having launched self serve subscription products, and familiarity with high-growth, scaling companies.
  • Strong experience scaling products that rely on high volume PLG (Product Led Growth) motions.
  • Instinct for creating simple and intuitive user experiences and expert knowledge of product design and development processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue impact through increased product activation, engagement and retention
  • Strong analytical skills, adept at data analysis and optimization, with a mastery of data engagement tools like Amplitude, Data Studio, Google Analytics, Etc.
  • Experience with experimentation techniques, A/B testing, funnel optimization, and iterative hypothesis-driven product development with tools like LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, PostHog, Etc.
  • Extensive experience working with cross-functional teams, including  engineering, design, marketing, and software developers. Familiar with driving alignment among a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership mentality, with a bias towards action, willingness to roll up sleeves, solve problems, and delight users. Obsession with building delightful products emphasizing user experience.
  • Candidates must be based in the United States and possess valid work authorization. Regrettably, we are unable to provide sponsorship opportunities at this time. Applicants who do not fulfill these prerequisites will not be considered for further evaluation
