Prerequisites
Master's degree or higher in counseling or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of graduate-level coursework in counseling or a closely related field.
Completion of specific coursework in career development theory, individual and group counseling techniques, career counseling process and resources, and use of career assessment tools.
A minimum of 3,000 hours of career development work experience, including at least 1,000 hours of direct client contact.
Adherence to the NCDA Code of Ethics and the ability to pass the NCDA's Counselor Ethical Standards and Guidelines examination.
Passing score on the National Certified Counselor (NCC) examination or completion of the NCDA's Facilitating Career Development (FCD) training program and passing the FCD Instructor Certification exam.
