Bachelor's degree in safety, health, or the environment, or a closely related field, or an associate degree in safety, health, or the environment, or a closely related field with additional experience.
A minimum of one year of professional safety experience where safety is at least 50%, preventative, professional level with breadth and depth of safety duties.
Passing the Safety Fundamentals Examination, which is one part of the two tests required to become a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), an advanced certification offered by BCSP.
Adherence to the BCSP Code of Ethics, which outlines the professional and ethical standards expected of certified individuals.
Completion of a 35-hour OSHA training course or equivalent as part of the professional development.
