Experience Requirement: Completion of the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), which requires 3,740 hours of work experience in various areas of architectural practice.
Authorization to Test: Approval from the jurisdiction's architectural registration board to sit for the ARE after meeting the education and experience requirements.
NCARB Record: Candidates must establish an NCARB Record to document their education and experience, and to apply for and schedule the ARE.
ARE Divisions: Successful completion of all six divisions of the ARE, which cover practice management, project management, programming & analysis, project planning & design, project development & documentation, and construction & evaluation.
