Prerequisites
A bachelor's degree in any field, plus three years of work experience in legal management, OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) plus six years of work experience in legal management.
At least one year of this experience must be in a supervisory role.
Completion of coursework in each of the five CLM knowledge areas: Business Management, Human Resources Management, Operations Management, Financial Management, and Legal Industry/Business of Law.
Passing the CLM exam, which assesses knowledge in the areas mentioned above.
Adherence to the ALA's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.
Commitment to continuing education and professional development, as demonstrated by earning a minimum number of education credits every three years to maintain the certification.
