Power Developer

Helion, a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, is seeking a Power Project Developer to oversee the development of a new large-scale power project. This role involves managing the project from site selection and securing permits to construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, site selection, and a working knowledge of permitting requirements. Reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer, the Power Project Developer will be responsible for identifying potential sites, securing permits and approvals, managing timelines and budgets, coordinating construction activities, and ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget.

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for the project, considering land use, access to transmission lines, and other relevant factors
• Secure necessary permits and approvals, including environmental permits, land-use permits, and construction permits
• Submit interconnection applications and guide projects through the interconnection study process
• Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans
• Consult with teams designing and engineering facilities to ensure compliance with codes and standards
• Coordinate construction activities, including subcontractor management and onsite safety measures
• Manage project commissioning and startup, including equipment testing and integration with the grid
• Ensure project goals are met on time and within budget, and communicate progress and challenges to senior management
• Manage commercial relationships during the development process, including submitting status reports, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and fulfilling conditions precedent to commercial operation
• Work with various stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and technical consultants
• Have 10+ years of experience in power project development, delivering multi-million-dollar power and infrastructure assets to commercial operation
• Possess knowledge of power markets, interconnection and transmission, real estate and title, land use permitting, and environmental regulations

• Experience in submitting interconnection applications and guiding projects through the interconnection study process
• Ability to coordinate construction activities, including subcontractor management and onsite safety measures
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards for designing and engineering facilities
• Proficiency in managing project commissioning and startup, including equipment testing and integration with the grid
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate progress and challenges to senior management
• Experience in managing commercial relationships during the development process, including submitting status reports, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and fulfilling conditions precedent to commercial operation.
