About the position
The Content Experience team at SurveyMonkey is seeking a Software Engineer with a strong problem-solving ability to work remotely with the main team in California. The role involves optimizing the website experience, expanding international presence, and improving content authoring and management. The ideal candidate should have a good command of web standards, modern JavaScript, and build tools, as well as experience with code reviews, collaboration, and mentorship. Additional experience with headless content management systems, performance enhancement technologies, design systems, and large-scale web applications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Help grow SurveyMonkey's business by optimizing the website experience, extending component libraries, running experiments, improving the content authoring and management experience, and expanding international presence
- Contribute to technical specs, write readable code, monitor post-release metrics, and present technology demos
- Work with product owners on feature sets that impact platform services and frameworks
- Develop modular packages, components, APIs, and frameworks
- Write robust and testable code, define APIs, build automation tools, troubleshoot issues, and perform code reviews
- Have 5+ years of professional programming experience pushing production quality code
- Have a good command of web standards, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
- Have hands-on knowledge of modern JavaScript and build tools (e.g., Node.js, React, Webpack, Storybook, CSS in JS)
- Have experience contributing to a culture of code reviews, tech spec writing, collaboration, and mentorship
- Nice to have experience working with headless content management systems
- Nice to have experience with performance enhancement technologies such as Memcache, Redis, Varnish
- Nice to have experience with design systems, responsive designs, Web experimentation, TypeScript, GraphQL, accessibility, localization, and visualization
- Nice to have experience building, provisioning, deploying, and maintaining large web applications running at scale
- Nice to have experience with agile, test-driven development, builds, and frequent deployments
