Service Engineer

As a Service Engineer at Shapeways, your main responsibility will be to maintain, service, and operate the printers, which are crucial equipment for the company. You will play a critical role in the Total Productive Maintenance program, ensuring repairs, maintenance, and documentation are carried out effectively. Additionally, you will contribute to process and product improvement, working in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely and high-quality production. Your expertise in troubleshooting and technical support, along with your mechanical-mindedness, will be essential in driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

• Perform machine tasks related to daily production, including cleaning high tech machinery and homogenizing powder for print runs
• Service and troubleshoot the machines, set and execute periodic maintenance
• Own machine uptime, reduce equipment failure, identify root causes, and implement preventative maintenance best practices and improvements to equipment
• Identify, analyze, scope, and implement improvement projects
• Create and maintain documentation for effective knowledge transfer throughout the company
• Maintain and optimize spare part stock
• Execute and improve quality control, including dimensional accuracy and strength testing
• Support building, training, and coordinating the team to take full ownership of machine uptime and quality
• Analyze and solve complex problems and provide detailed reports for presentations and follow-up
• Provide detailed support on the acquisition of new capital equipment expenses process
• Establish and maintain relationships with printer OEMs and service technicians
• Have a Vocational or Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (e.g., engineering, mechatronics)
• Have work experience in technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment, preferably 3D printers
• Understand KPI-driven performance and prioritize based on on-time delivery demands
• Be a constructive team player with good social and communication skills
• Have a mechanical-minded and able to understand the mechanics of an industrial 3D printer
• Have an appetite to learn, teach, and develop in the manufacturing space
• Love to drive change and continuous improvement by taking initiative and helping others
• Always be learning and willing to ask for help
• Keep overview easily and work meticulously and organized.

• Vocational or Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (e.g. engineering, mechatronics)
• Work experience in technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment, preferably 3D printers
• 2+ years of work experience in a relevant industry/role
• Understanding of KPI-driven performance and prioritization for on-time delivery
• Constructive team player with good social and communication skills
• Mechanical-minded and able to understand the mechanics of an industrial 3D printer
• Appetite for learning, teaching, and developing in the manufacturing space
• Ability to drive change and continuous improvement by taking initiative and helping others
• Willingness to constantly learn and ask for help
