Prerequisites
A current, unrestricted license as a Registered Dietitian (RD), Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Pharmacist, Registered Nurse (RN), Physician (MD or DO), Physician Assistant (PA), or an international equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years of full-time healthcare experience, or its part-time equivalent, in the nutrition support therapy field within the past five years.
Completion of a minimum of 1,500 hours of practice experience in nutrition support therapy, which can be part of the 2 years of required experience, within the past five years.
Successful completion of the CNSC examination administered by the Board of Certification for Nutrition Specialists (BCNS).
Adherence to the BCNS's professional code of ethics.
Maintenance of certification through continuing education and retesting every five years.
