About the position
The job overview for this role is that Aptos is seeking a Business Development Lead to create a partnerships strategy, close deals, and manage partners in order to expand the Aptos network into large financial institutions. The focus is on building relationships with banks, lenders, funds, investment managers, and brokers, and negotiating complex deals to further the mission of achieving universal and fair access to decentralized assets. The ideal candidate should have experience in partnerships and business development, with a strong network in the capital markets industry, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
- Research financial services companies interested in integrating crypto and web3 services into new products and features
- Identify and select the best partners for the project
- Develop and close large partner opportunities to advance the mission
- Provide strategic perspective to product and engineering teams, delivering critical business insights and launching market initiatives
- Collaborate with other partnership leads to establish a comprehensive network of partners for the Aptos network
- Work with banks, lenders, funds, investment managers, and brokers to form deep relationships at the executive level
- Formulate and execute partnership strategy
- Build internal business cases
- Negotiate complex deals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders
- Distill problems discovered in traditional finance into guidance for product and engineering teams
- Research and maintain strong market knowledge of the blockchain and crypto industry
- Utilize superb communication and presentation skills
- Collaborate with technical teams, lawyers, and marketers
- Leverage deep and relevant network with industry leaders across capital markets
- Preferred qualifications include 7+ years of experience in partnerships or business development roles, experience with commercial agreements, and an MBA or JD degree.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience working in partnerships, business development, or similar roles at high-growth technology companies
- Experience working with commercial agreements, including creating and negotiating agreements outside of standard sales contracts
- Experience partnering with technical teams, lawyers, and marketers
- Experience in and strong market knowledge of the blockchain & crypto industry preferred
- Experience developing and closing partner opportunities across financial institutions that work in capital markets
- A deep and relevant network with industry leaders across capital markets
- Superb communication and presentation skills
- MBA or JD preferred
