Senior Software Engineer, Front End

Altana is seeking talented Frontend or Full Stack Software Engineers to join their Engineering team. The engineers will work closely with Backend Engineers and Data Scientists to analyze world-scale datasets, develop code for unique insights, and create APIs for product delivery. The responsibilities include building products for global commerce, developing user-facing features, designing reusable code, collaborating with product and design teams, proposing technical solutions, automating and testing work, and collaborating with fellow engineers and data scientists. The ideal candidate has a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, at least 6+ years of web front-end application development experience, a track record of project ownership and delivery, and a strong focus on engineering excellence. Nice-to-have skills include experience with ag-grid and CSS-in-JS solutions, backend engineering experience, knowledge of CI/CD tools and cloud services, and familiarity with LLM-based tools for building user interfaces. The preferred technologies at Altana include TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Next.js, ReGraph, ag-grid, vanilla-css, playwright, React testing-library, and Jest.

• Build products that enable governments, logistics providers, and enterprises to improve global commerce
• Develop new user-facing features for the Altana product suite
• Design and build reusable, well-tested code and libraries for data exploration, visualization, and analysis
• Collaborate with product and design teams to prototype, develop, and launch new features and enhancements
• Analyze and propose technical solutions to enhance product offerings
• Automate, test, and deploy work
• Collaborate with engineers and data scientists across the organization
• Write TypeScript and JavaScript UIs for the web
• Use Next.js / React / Typescript to develop data visualizations and graph insights
• Have a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Have at least 6+ years of real-world professional experience writing web front-end applications
• Have a track record of ownership and delivery of projects with major organizational impact
• Care deeply about engineering excellence, clean code, testing, and knowledge-sharing
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Have an inquisitive mind and the ability to ramp up quickly
• Nice to have: experience with ag-grid and various CSS-in-JS solutions, backend engineering experience, experience with CI/CD tools and processes, working knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP, familiarity with LLM-based tools like ChatGPT or Azure OpenAI

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• At least 6+ years of real-world professional experience writing web front end applications in React, Angular, or other web libraries or frameworks
• Track record of ownership and delivery of projects with major organizational impact
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Inquisitive mind; able to dig into both code and product, seek to understand them deeply, are not shy about asking questions, and ramp up reasonably fast
• Experience with ag-grid, and various css-in-JS solution, or other similar libraries (nice to have)
• Backend engineering experience (nice to have)
• Experience with CI/CD tools and processes (nice to have)
• Working knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP (nice to have)
• Familiarity with LLM-based tools like ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI or similar. Some acquaintance with building user interfaces that leverage those tools (nice to have)
