Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure and Security)

You will be responsible for the general infrastructure of Gather's services, including game servers and API servers. Your role will involve implementing security best practices, making long-term technology decisions, and building the future of Gather's infrastructure. The focus areas include security, networking, canary environments, and multi-cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have software engineering experience in systems, infrastructure, security, or related backgrounds, as well as deep knowledge of Kubernetes and experience with programming languages like Golang, Python, or NodeJS. Strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as a passion for Gather's mission, are also important.

• Responsible for the general infrastructure that underlies Gather's services, including game servers and API servers.
• Implement security best practices and ensure the safety of systems and customer data.
• Build air-tight VPCs and ensure the security of infrastructure endpoints, tooling, and processes.
• Manage and troubleshoot multiple Kubernetes clusters and deploy to multiple clouds.
• Build mechanisms for detecting problems before they become incidents.
• Deploy and maintain Terraform stacks.
• Implement metrics and monitoring using tools like Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog.
• Have deep knowledge of Kubernetes and networking concepts.
• Have software engineering experience in systems, infrastructure, security, DevOps, or related background.
• Have programming experience with Golang, Python, or NodeJS.
• Have Linux operational expertise and knowledge of Bash scripting.

• Software Engineering experience in Systems (OS, Distributed, Networking, etc.), Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, SRE, or related background.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and the networking concepts that it relies upon. Deploying apps is just the beginning — you must be able to troubleshoot when they don’t.
• Have experience implementing secure by-default designs and features in cloud infrastructure endpoints, tooling, and processes.
• Experience implementing metrics and monitoring, sending data to one or more of Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog.
• Programming experience with one or more of Golang, Python, or NodeJS, and the ability to write applications that communicate with APIs like Kubernetes and AWS.
• Linux operational expertise: know the ins and outs of Bash scripting and how to keep a system healthy.
• Experience writing and maintaining Terraform stacks.
