Systems Engineer II

Orbit Fab is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of practical solutions for complex space systems. The role involves various aspects of systems engineering, including concept studies, requirements development, assembly, integration, verification test, and production of Orbit Fab's technologies. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical engineering and be capable of completing analysis to support system requirements. This position offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on enabling an On-Orbit Propellant supply for the future of space innovation.

• Manage and maintain development schedules, systems requirements, and design budgets
• Guide systems engineering processes and facilitate technical trades across the system
• Define and manage technical direction of structural or thermal contractor partners
• Participate in software and/or hardware development
• Lead technical reviews and give effective presentations to internal and external stakeholders
• Guide technical decision-making processes and development
• Plan and implement simulations and test campaigns to verify system performance and requirements compliance
• Define, review, critique and redefine engineering processes
• Identify technical risks and issues and take action to minimize schedule and cost impacts
• Identify vendors and oversee component selection
• Provide technical mentorship to team members and monitor technical integrity of all team member contributions
• Contribute technical knowledge to proposal development and writing

• Experience taking a system from concept phase through prototyping, detailed design, AIT, launch and operation
• Demonstrated collaboration with space systems engineering teams
• Experience with generation of verification and validation plans as well as executing qualification campaigns
• Deep knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: thermal and mechanical analysis, sensors, structures, mechanisms, spacecraft operations
• Experience defining customer needs and crafting engineering requirements, including a proven ability to successfully push back on unnecessary.
